PHASE 1:
We installed 3 Phocos 8kw Hybrid inverters and 3 Phocos 5kWh lithium batteries. This gave the buildings lifts and general lighting sufficient back up power to see it through all stages of load shedding, bringing the body corporate and tenants peace of mind and ensuring security. We made use of the Phocos batteries as they are engineered to withstand high in rushes which is needed to power the lifts. With this new technology we were able to forego over sizing equipment which would have been the case in the past.
PHASE 2:
Once phase 1 was complete and the client was happy and comfortable with the outcome, we installed PV in order to power the lifts and lighting during the day and charge up the batteries, significantly reducing the body corporates electrical bill. This phased approach allowed the BC to acquire more funding over a period of time to implement the phases with a modular application.
As a high density residential apartment, the need for a lift and lighting is important in case of emergencies as well as for elderly residents. With the excess of load shedding and power outages the increased risk of the residents was weighing heavily on the body corporate and so they reached out to us to find a solution. Through smart engineering from our team and the help of the team at Phocos, we were able to create a solar and battery back up solution for Tenbury which ensured that their elevators would remain operating during outages and bring them peace of mind and energy security.

For this system we installed 6 Phocos 5kw Hybrid inverters with 3 Leoch 5kWh lithium batteries and 68 PV panels. As a clothing store, this business exclusively runs during the day and draws very minimal power at night.
The batteries were sufficient to keep the essential load on during all stages of load shedding, ie. lights, computers and till points as well as power the security lights and alarm at night time. This ensure that business is uninterrupted and the shop is secure at all times, bringing the owner complete peace of mind.
The municipality in Matatiele allows the residents to feed excess energy back onto the grid. Thus pushing their reading into the negative and when they draw power from Eskom at night, when there is no PV power, your pull from the grid will bring your reading back up.
The energy produced by the 68 panels on this installation not only create enough power to cover their electrical in its entirety but exceeds this. The customer chose to over cater on this installation in order to push more energy onto the grid.

With both lodges boasting various accomodations on each site, two restaurants and entertainment areas, stable power supply is a necessity for this business owner. We installed two systems at each lodge, consisting of an Atess 150kW inverter and a Freedom Won 100kWh battery. These respective systems allowed both lodges to continue running seamlessly through load shedding and power outages which were becoming more frequent.
With their power stabilised, both lodges are able to offer an uninterrupted experience, meaning no loss in profits and a step ahead of their competitors.
Due to the significant investment into the equipment, we ensured to take great care in delivering and off-loading the components. Once off-loaded, our team of electricians and technicians worked over a handful of days and well into the nights to install, integrate and configure the equipment in order to get everything working perfectly and meeting the goals of the client.
The system has been in place now for over a year and seen the lodge through load shedding and many extended power outages.
As the owner acquires funding for the next phase we are working towards a phase 2 which will be the installation of solar panels in order to reduce their bill significantly and charge up these monster batteries
